At AB Health & Fitness, every journey is different, and this month we are proud to share Alessia’s story. What started as a step taken with uncertainty has grown into a powerful example of consistency, confidence, and self-belief.
Taking the First Step
Alessia’s journey began with a gentle nudge from her mum, Nina. Knowing Alessia wanted to start somewhere but was unsure how, Nina brought her along to AB. While the intention was there, the emotions were heavy.
Before starting, Alessia felt anxious, self-conscious, and deflated. Walking into a gym felt overwhelming, and like many people starting out, she questioned whether she truly belonged. Still, she showed up and that decision became the foundation of everything that followed.
Seeing the Results of Consistency
Nearly a year on, Alessia is finally seeing the results of her hard work. More than physical changes, she is proud of something even more meaningful. She stayed consistent.
Week after week, she continued to turn up, push herself, and aim to do better than the week before. That commitment, even on tough days, is what Alessia considers one of her greatest achievements so far.
A Moment That Changed Everything
One recent class delivered a moment Alessia will not forget. During a circuit session, it was her turn to perform squats with a loaded barbell. Someone kindly offered to remove some weight, and she was about to agree.
That is when Dave stepped in and encouraged her to try. With hesitation, determination, and a bit of disbelief, Alessia went for it and completed the squats successfully. Not only did she surprise the rest of the class, she surprised herself.
It became a powerful reminder that sometimes the biggest breakthrough comes from simply believing you are capable.
Falling in Love With Strength
These days, Alessia’s favourite sessions are the Tuesday and Thursday 5:20am strength classes. Strength and weights-based training has become something she genuinely looks forward to, a shift she never expected when she first walked through the doors.
Building strength has helped her feel more confident, capable, and connected to her progress.
Discovering What She Is Capable Of
One of the biggest surprises for Alessia has been how long she has stayed committed. In the past, gyms were short-lived experiences, usually ending after a few weeks. AB was different.
Something about the environment, the people, and the challenges kept her coming back. After completing the Winter Challenge, Alessia realised just how powerful her mindset could be when she fully committed. What she achieved during that time still amazes her.
Small Wins That Feel Huge
Sometimes progress shows up in unexpected places. While travelling in Japan, Alessia found herself helping lift heavy suitcases into the boot of an Uber when the driver was struggling.
It may have seemed like a small moment, but for Alessia, it was a powerful reminder of how far she had come. Strength that once felt impossible had quietly become part of her everyday life.
What AB Means to Alessia
When asked to describe AB Health & Fitness in three words, Alessia chose:

Her journey is a reminder that growth does not happen overnight. It happens through showing up, trusting the process, and discovering strength you did not know you had.
